Are you planning to buy a car? Buy Hybird!

Have any seen the movie 2012? If not you need to see it. The movie is about how the Earth crust is no longer protecting Earth and the world is coming to an end. After viewing the movie I got to thinking is it some truth to it. I don't know about your cities but mine has several GO GREEN initiatives implemented. Also, what about all the organizations going green. This makes me think that maybe the Earth crust is deteriorating and going Green is helping us (the world) preserve the crust a little while longer. Smile!

However, for the purpose of this post, I will be discussing the prediction of from Technology Promise about Hybrid Cars since its another going green initiative.

Currently automakers are altering their fleets to be more hybrid based, however cars last roughly 15 years. JD Power expects the automotive manufactures fleets to be up 2 points from the current 2%. Experts believe 30% of the new car purchases will be hybrid roughly in 2013 (Halal, 2008).

In conclusion, this post is not meant to scare anyone. We are scientist. Ask yourself is the government trying to pull wool over our eyes or are the signs being presented indirectly (GOING GREEN). LETS BUY HYBRID! Pass it own.

Hypersonic Planes - Are you ready for some jet lag

For the purpose of this discussion, the innovation that I will be discussing is Super Fast travel. The idea presented, is that individuals would be able to travel to their respective destination faster than normal, due to the dislike and the long hours required for travel. Personally, I think its a good idea and according to other scholars testing is already underway with the development of the technology known as Hypersonic planes (Halal, 2008). With the development of this type of plane, it has been stated that a trip for the east coast of the US to Asia will be condense from 30 hours to 3.  Scholars believe that about 30% of long flights will be using this technology by 2028 (Halal, 2008). Are you ready for some JET LAG? Beware of Aerospace International coming near you.

Community-Based Co-Laboratory of Democracy

The case study I chose to discuss is “Community-Based Co-Laboratory of Democracy. The case is about a community using the SDP to define the future of the community as a whole. First, the study discussed how the community generated 42 distinct intentions in one working session by voting subsequently and subjectively. Next, during the afternoon session stakeholders used strategic dialogue to discuss the 12 most important intentions and a tree was developed to depict the level of importance.

Of the 12 most important intentions, the two most important intentions to the group were identified. Overall, SDP in this situation proved to be a better technique for group decision making over the Robert rules of order. Therefore, one should consider SDP when group decision making is involved if their current process is not effective.

Smart Sensors

According to Halal (2008), Smart senors provides the means to control factor operations, monitor environmental conditions, collect military intelligence, detect system failures, and track movements of people and things. For example,
the U.S. Army is using the Smart Sensors to track soldiers. The system monitors dehydration, vital signs, wounds, and other critical indicators.

Considering the positive use of the Smart Sensor technology, I speculate that anti Smart Senors activist are going to attack this technology, deeming it unconstitutional.  Also, from a religious perspective for me it raises some questions.  People in general may reject the technology, due to observation of movies that reflect negative ending when someone has the ability to be tracked.

Overall, I agree with the technology as long as it used in an ethical manner.  From a business perspective, I see large profit potential.

Issues with Cloud Computing

After reviewing the Horizon report, my area of choice to discuss is Cloud Computing. In particular, I will discuss the disadvantages of Cloud Computing and possible solutions.

Base on the Horizon report, trust is an issue when dealing with the Cloud. In addition, connectivity, having enough bandwidth is an issue. For me two questions come to mine: 1. When will the government upgrade out infrastructure. 2. Will congress past a bill that regulates the trust factor of Cloud Computing host vs. users?

My proposed solutions are: 1. Fiber Optic LAN's 2. A law similar to FDIC but for Cloud Computing Host.

Ted's

How I harness the wind is the Ted talk.com video I saw. The video is about a guy from Africa who created his own windmill that generates electricity. The lessons learned from my perspective are: 1. Try something new, if you don’t try, you may never know the potential. 2. There is hope. 3. Innovation is never too old. What I mean by this is, the world is not fully developed and all areas of the world are at different levels. Base on this, ideas that are not innovative in one area may be innovative in another.

Innovation starts as an idea!
